Lot 308: Vintage English Leather Gladstone Style Briefcase
A mid-20th-century English professional briefcase or doctor’s bag of Gladstone-style frame-top construction. The exterior is crafted from mid-brown or tan leather, featuring a single rounded top handle and a central wrap-over strap. This strap is secured by a brass-tone metal combination lock. The base of the bag is reinforced with brass-plated metal corner protectors. The interior is divided into several compartments and is lined with a coordinating leather. Markings include an indistinct stamp on the exterior latch plate which appears to read AKANA above MADE IN ENGLAND. The interior leather lining is stamped 1/65 alongside a circular mark containing the letter C, likely denoting a manufacture date of January 1965 and a leather grade or certification mark.
