Lot 406: A Set of Denby Stoneware Tableware in the Chevron Pattern
A set of Denby stoneware tableware in the Chevron pattern, designed by Gill Pemberton for Denby Pottery, Derbyshire, England. The service is finished in a characteristic matte olive green glaze, featuring a repeating textured chevron relief pattern to the exterior of the vessels and a contrasting pale glazed interior. The group includes a tall, lidded coffee pot, several coffee cups, a small milk or cream jug, and a stack of matching saucers. The coffee pot features a cylindrical body with a side handle and a short spout. The cups are of a low, wide form with small loop handles.
The set is accompanied by a handwritten paper tag which reads: VENDOR 1924 / VINTAGE DENBY COFFEE / SET CHEVRON DESIGN / GOOD CONDITION RES £20. No factory backstamps are visible on the undersides in the provided photographs, however, the design and glaze are characteristic of the Denby Chevron range introduced in the 1960s.
