Lot 407: A Ceramic Trinket Box with Village Blacksmith Decoration and an Assortment of Miniature Ceramics
A square-form glazed earthenware trinket box, in the style of Newhall Pottery, the lid featuring a multi-colour transfer-printed scene depicting The Village Blacksmith at an anvil with onlookers and a forge in the background. The illustration is framed by a hand-painted orange-yellow border. The interior contains an assortment of miniature ceramic items including a figurine of a lady in a pink dress and blue bonnet, two miniature vases with polychrome floral and figure transfer decoration, a cobalt blue and gilt vase, a miniature ewer with blue and white floral decoration, and a small white porcelain-style footed object. No maker marks are visible on the box. The item is accompanied by auction lot labels for HCP Auctions South West.
