Lot 918: Chris Woods, Sunlight and Steam, Framed Railway Print of GWR No. 6023 King Edward II
This framed offset lithograph, titled Sunlight and Steam, is after the original painting by artist Chris Woods. The artwork depicts the Great Western Railway (GWR) King Class locomotive No. 6023 King Edward II hauling the Cornish Riviera Express. The scene captures the locomotive at speed, identifiable by its headboard and number plate, as it passes a figure standing beside the track. The print is inscribed in the upper right margin with Published by Quicksilver Publishing Company. The artist’s printed signature and the work’s title are visible in the lower right corner. The piece is presented in a cream-coloured double mount and a dark wood frame.
