Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £8

Buyer's Premium:

A hand-knotted Persian wool rug, likely from Western or Central Iran and executed in the style of Sarouk or Malayer. The rug features a wool pile on a cotton foundation. The field is decorated with an all-over repeating pattern of stylised Boteh motifs arranged within a subtle lattice framework. The design is enclosed by a multi-layered border, with the primary guard band repeating the Boteh motif. The colour palette consists of muted shades of rose pink, terracotta, and navy blue against a cream ground. Hand-knotted construction with a cotton fringe at one end.

Condition report:

The rug shows signs of age-appropriate wear throughout. There is noticeable thinning to the wool pile in several areas, revealing the underlying cotton foundation. The colours appear faded, consistent with age and use. The side cords and fringe show moderate wear. No major repairs are immediately visible.
