Lot 780: A Large Collection of Vintage Meccano Construction Sets and Accessories
This extensive collection of vintage construction toys comprises components and sets from Meccano, manufactured by Meccano Ltd of Liverpool, England. The assembly includes a wide variety of perforated steel strips, plates, and girders finished in traditional green and red liveries. Mechanical components feature brass gears, pinions, and brackets, alongside numerous pulleys and wheels fitted with rubber tyres in various colours including blue, red, and yellow. Included within the lot are several Meccano clockwork motors in original blue cardboard packaging, such as the No. 1 motor, complete with associated winding keys.
Printed material consists of several vintage instruction manuals and a promotional brochure featuring Meccano, Bayko, Hornby Trains, and Hornby Speedboats. The collection is housed across several storage solutions, including a large vintage fibre-bound trunk, a two-tier wooden chest with a hinged lid and internal compartments, and various smaller containers such as a Meccano Gears Outfit A box, an Oxo Cubes box, and a Cocktail Assorted Biscuits tin. Distinctive Meccano branding and typography are clearly visible across the packaging and documentation.
