Lot 805: A Chinese-style hardwood side chair with carved longevity motif
A Chinese-style hardwood side chair constructed from a reddish-brown stained dense hardwood. The chair features a rounded yoke-style top rail over a broad central splat, which is decorated with a carved circular Shou longevity character motif. The rectangular seat is composed of a solid recessed panel within a mitred frame. The chair is supported on square-section legs, connected by a box stretcher arrangement and a footrest. The joinery appears to be traditional mortise and tenon. Visible markings include white adhesive labels to the central splat and lower frame with various handwritten and printed inventory numbers including 2865, 805, and 806.
