Lot 843: A late 19th century Jacobean revival carved oak armchair
A Jacobean revival oak armchair in the French Os-de-Mouton style, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The chair features a high rectangular padded back and an upholstered seat. The open wooden arms are shaped with scrolled terminals and decorated with carved acanthus leaf motifs. The piece is supported by block and turned legs joined by a heavily carved scrolled front stretcher, resting on animal-paw style feet. The upholstery is mixed, with the back covered in an olive-green velvet and the seat upholstered in a machine-woven floral tapestry fabric in shades of cream, pink, and green, finished with a row of brass-headed upholstery studs. The right arm bears a white rectangular inventory label and a pink circular sticker with the number 32; a matching pink sticker is located on the left arm. No permanent maker marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the wood or upholstery.
