Lot 513: A Pair of The Leonardo Collection Cast Metal Tradesmen Figurines
A set of ceramic hors d’oeuvres or sweetmeat dishes presented in a circular wooden tray. The set comprises six interlocking petal-shaped dishes arranged around a central circular lidded pot. The ceramics feature an off-white glaze decorated with a hand-painted prunus or blossom pattern, consisting of flowering branches with pink and white petals and brown stems. The central lidded pot has a moulded basketweave texture to the exterior under the glaze, with gilt accents applied to the rim and the handle. The set is housed in a shallow circular wooden tray with a low rim. This set is in the Chinese export style and resembles mid-20th century Japanese porcelain ware such as that produced by Seizan. No maker’s marks are visible on the upper surfaces; two adhesive labels are attached to the lid, including a handwritten price and an auction lot tag for HCP Auctions Ltd.
