Lot 528: A Set of Clear Pressed Glass Scalloped Rim Footed Dessert Dishes
A large Belgian art pottery vase manufactured by Céramique de Quaregnon (Willem and Co.), dating from the interwar period. The vase is of glazed earthenware (faience) construction, featuring a tall ovoid body with a flared rim and a circular pedestal foot. The exterior is decorated with a hand-painted scene on a pale duck-egg blue ground, depicting a stylized bird with vibrant green, blue, and yellow plumage amongst large autumnal leaves and floral sprigs in shades of ochre, brown, and green. Both the rim and the foot are finished with wide black bands embellished with a gilt lattice or cracked ice pattern. The underside of the base features an impressed diamond-grid texture. Markings on the base include the impressed number 673 and a stamped gold scroll cartouche containing the text MADE IN BELGIUM and QUAREGNON alongside a central factory logo.
