Lot 599: Large mid-century modern amber glass thumbprint pattern vase
This lot consists of two pieces of sculptural high-fire porcelain from the Franz Porcelain collection. The first item is a large Papillon butterfly vase featuring a rim modelled as three butterfly wings in shades of cream and pale yellow with peach-coloured edges. The tapering body is finished in a creamy white glaze, resting on a footed base stylised as pink petals and green leaves. The second item is a smaller Tulip vase, model XP1815, featuring relief-moulded decoration of a single pink and red tulip bud with green foliage wrapped around a body that graduates from a pale blue at the rim to white at the base. The base of the tulip vase bears several underglaze marks including the Franz bird wing logo, the literal name FRANZ, model number XP1815, a small red seal mark, a circular monogram containing the letters JH, and a copyright mark dated 2002.
