Lot 658: Two Galileo Thermometers including a Thüringer Glaskunst Cylindrical Example
This assortment contains several decorative glass and crystal items. Included is a lead crystal vase, attributed to Stuart Crystal. The vase features a flared trumpet bowl with a field of strawberry diamond cutting between bands of vertical thumb-cut fluting. It is supported by a multifaceted knop and a square stepped plinth base with a rayed star-cut underside. Also present is a clear glass figurine of a pheasant depicted with wings partially outstretched, perched on a circular textured rock-effect base. The collection further includes a clear glass commemorative chalice with a flared bowl etched with a landmark building. The underside of the circular foot is inscribed with the text CHRIST CHURCH, referencing the Oxford college. A small, heavy square glass stand is also included, featuring vertical fluted sides and a star-cut surface.
