Lot 662: A Pair of Fladen Boatmaster 30G Trolling Reels
This collection consists of several decorative objects of Indian origin, primarily featuring elephant iconography and traditional stone-carving techniques. The group includes a standing elephant figurine crafted from white stone, decorated with floral pietra dura style inlays using various coloured stones. A second elephant figurine is executed in soapstone with intricate jali or pierced lattice openwork. A smaller soapstone figurine is carved in a similar jali style to represent an owl, featuring multiple circular perforations across the body. Also included is a rectangular stone plaque or lid featuring a central relief carving of an elephant framed by a geometric jali border. Completing the collection is a small wooden trinket box with a hinged lid; the top is inset with a miniature painting depicting a caparisoned elephant, and the front edge is accented with brass-toned metal studs. These items reflect 20th-century craftsmanship typical of North Indian regions such as Rajasthan or Agra.
Dimensions: 5cm to 12cm in height/length approximately.
