Lot 701: A Matchbox Models of Yesteryear 1911 Renault 2-Seater Mounted on a Wooden Trinket Box and an Assortment of British Coinage
A trio of small decorative ceramic vases of varying styles and origins. The first is a West German art pottery vase of globular form with a short neck and flared rim, crafted from earthenware. The exterior features horizontal bands of cream, tan, and pale olive green glazes with vertical impressed notch detailing, while the interior and rim are finished in a dark chocolate-brown glaze. The base is impressed with the marks W. GERMANY and 317/8. The second is a baluster-shaped vase with a trumpet rim, likely porcelain or fine earthenware. It is decorated with hand-painted underglaze blue scrolling foliate and floral motifs on a white ground. The base is unmarked. The third is an ovoid-bodied earthenware vase with a flared neck. It features hand-painted flowering branches against a matt gradient background transitioning from orange to pale celadon green. A raised, textured decorative band in a mottled cream and brown glaze accents the shoulder and neck. The base bears a hand-painted mark in brown, resembling the letters To or similar calligraphic strokes.
