Lot 231: Vintage Industrial Welded Steel Sack Truck with Solid Tyres
A pair of mid-20th-century fuel containers comprising one red petrol can and one blue paraffin can, typical of British automobilia from the 1950s to 1960s. The first item is a red-painted container featuring the Esso logo within a red and gold oval with yellow lettering. The top surface includes hand-painted yellow characters reading Esso and a price marking of 3/- (three shillings), indicating a pre-decimalisation manufacture date. The metal screw-on cap is embossed with the word Esso. The second item is a blue-painted Esso Blue paraffin can. The side features embossed lettering painted in red reading Esso Blue Paraffin. This can is fitted with a hexagonal metal cap finished in white paint. Both vessels are of pressed steel construction with integral handles and conform to the standard two-gallon rectangular format.
