Lot 486: A Pair of Five-Drawer Plastic Storage Towers
This polychrome glazed ceramic figurine of a rooster is produced in a style characteristic of mid-20th-century Chinese export wares. The bird is depicted in a standing posture on a textured base with a brown wood-effect finish. It features a bright red comb and wattles, with a yellow-toned neck and body decorated with repeated brown teardrop-shaped spots. The wings and tail plumage are rendered in a variegated palette of blues, browns, and yellows. The piece is constructed of moulded ceramic with a high-gloss glaze. The underside of the base is primarily unglazed and features a central circular firing vent. No factory marks or signatures are visible, though there is a remnant of a paper label and an auction lot tag for H and P Auctions South West, identifying the item as Lot 487.
