Lot 786: A Traditional Style Besom Broom
This extensive collection consists of hand-painted stoneware tableware in the Greenwheat pattern by Denby. The service features a light-grey speckled body decorated with a single stylized wheat stalk motif in teal-blue with red accents. Many of the lidded items are finished with solid teal-blue lids. The collection is arranged across two auction lots. The group includes various forms such as large circular lidded tureens with horizontal handles, two teapots of differing sizes, a rectangular covered butter dish, a lidded sugar bowl, and a small cream jug. Also present are a set of egg cups, a narrow-necked pourer, multiple dinner plates, side plates, and saucers. The service further comprises a set of mugs and teacups, various cereal and soup bowls, a large rectangular serving platter, and a pair of small lidded pots. The pieces are typical of the mid-century modern aesthetic produced by the Denby pottery in the mid-20th century.
