A collection of coordinating earthenware tea and dinnerware featuring hand-painted floral decoration on a cream-coloured ground. The service includes pieces from two Staffordshire potteries, Wood and Sons and Simpsons (Potters) Ltd. The primary design is the Belle Fiore pattern by Simpsons (Potters) Ltd, characterized by bold, vibrant hand-painted motifs of large deep pink and red floral blossoms, yellow fruit elements resembling lemons, and broad green foliage. The pieces are finished with blue dot accents and blue rim lines.
The group consists of several forms, including teacups, saucers, a stack of side plates, dinner plates, luncheon plates, and an oval serving platter.
Two distinct factory marks are present. One cup features an impressed mark reading WOODS ENGLAND. Another piece bears a green printed backstamp for BELLE FIORE, Solian Ware, SIMPSONS (POTTERS) LTD, COBRIDGE, ENGLAND, alongside the hand-painted pattern number 621.
