Lot 884: A Pair of Vintage Straw Boater Hats
This lot comprises a mahogany twin pedestal sideboard in the William IV style and an associated footstool. The sideboard is constructed from mahogany with flame mahogany veneers. It features a high, shaped backboard gallery with a central hand-carved shell motif flanked by scrolled acanthus-leaf ends. The main body consists of a wide top with a bowed central section over a single frieze drawer. It is supported by two pedestals, each containing a top drawer above a large cupboard door. The doors are framed with gadrooned carved mouldings and display well-figured veneers. The entire piece is raised on turned bun feet. The accompanying small rectangular footstool is upholstered in a brown leather-effect material with brass-headed stud detailing and turned wooden legs. There are small white rectangular inventory stickers located on the centre frieze drawer and the top surface. No manufacturer’s marks or stamps are visible.
