Lot 1053: A Collection of Decorative and Household Items Including an Enamelled Scent Warmer and Glazed Tiles
This late Victorian or early 20th-century low-seated nursing chair is constructed from an oak frame, featuring a prominent open grain and medullary ray flecks visible on the armrests and legs. The chair is upholstered in a red plush fabric that covers the seat, the inner and outer back, and the arm pads. The construction consists of a joined frame with turned front legs and matching turned arm supports, while the rear legs are of square section and slightly raked. Two temporary white adhesive labels are located on the right armrest; one is printed with the number 1057 and the other is handwritten with characters appearing to read £ 5. No permanent manufacturer marks, stamps, or labels are visible on the exposed timber or visible parts of the frame.
