Lot 5: An 18th-century horn and bird's eye maple snuff box
An antique rectangular snuff box constructed with a pressed horn body and a bird’s eye maple inset lid. The body is crafted from a translucent, honey-coloured horn with a fine linear grain and slightly waisted sides. The hinged lid features a decorative inset panel of bird’s eye maple, displaying a characteristic mottled figure. The interior reveals a similar amber-like translucency and is fitted with an integral multi-part hinge. No maker’s marks, signatures, or hallmarks are visible on the piece.
