Lot 68: A Mid-20th Century Silver-plated Pimm's Jug by Barker Brothers Silver Ltd
A silver-plated jug of heavy baluster form, manufactured by Barker Brothers Silver Ltd. The vessel features a widely flared pouring rim and a robust C-scroll handle embellished with two raised decorative thumb-pieces. The body is prominently engraved with the brand name PIMM’S in an outlined block font with internal cross-hatching. The base displays a comprehensive set of markings, including the maker’s mark B B over S Ld for Barker Brothers Silver Ltd, the lion passant, an anchor for the Birmingham Assay Office, and a lowercase date letter r, likely corresponding to 1941-42. Additional stamped markings include (C) 583 and a cross symbol over the numeral 1. The underside also features the engraved initials G.S.L over RR and a hand-scratched inventory number R3792.
