Lot 94: Swallowtail Butterfly Specimen in Glass Brandy Balloon with Turned Wooden Lid
An entomological display featuring a swallowtail butterfly specimen, likely of the Papilio genus. The butterfly is mounted with wings spread to display yellow and black markings and characteristic hindwing tails. The specimen is positioned atop an arrangement of artificial silk flora, including a large red rose and smaller pink blossoms, with a base of decorative white feathers. The entire arrangement is housed within a clear glass vessel in the form of a brandy balloon or snifter. The vessel is fitted with a dark-stained, turned wooden lid featuring a central knob.
