Lot 137: A Set of Edwardian Sterling Silver Handled Fruit Knives by James Deakin and Sons
A set of fruit knives featuring solid sterling silver handles and electroplated nickel silver (EPNS) blades. The handles are decorated with a scrolled shell and foliate pattern. Each handle bears a full set of British hallmarks including the maker mark JD over WD for James Deakin and Sons (John and William Deakin), the crown for the Sheffield Assay Office, the lion passant for .925 sterling silver, and the lowercase Gothic date letter m for 1904. The blades are struck with the initials EPNS in Gothic script. The set is presented in its original fitted case with a blue textured exterior and ivory-coloured satin and velvet interior lining.
