Lot 5: A set of vintage bamboo drain unblocking rods with brass fittings and plunger attachment
A set of vintage sectional drain unblocking rods, traditionally used for plumbing and drainage maintenance. The set comprises multiple long, slender shafts constructed from bamboo cane, each fitted with threaded brass or bronze ferrules at the ends for secure sectional assembly. Included in the set is a large, circular, flat cast metal disc attachment, functioning as a plunger or stop, which is threaded onto one of the rods. The bundle is secured by two adjustable brown leather buckle straps. These tools were common utilitarian items in the United Kingdom during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. No maker’s marks or inscriptions are visible on the metal fittings or the plunger attachment.
