Lot 176: A Trio of Antique Iron Utility Items
This lot consists of a heavy-gauge iron bucket and two cast iron shoemaker’s lasts. The bucket is of cylindrical form, featuring a vertical riveted seam and a riveted base. It is fitted with a substantial swinging handle attached via heavy rings, which includes a central loop and a hanging or locking mechanism. The two cast iron cobbler’s lasts are of the three-way variety used for footwear repair. Markings include Nº 1 on one last and Nº 2 on the other, with the word IRON cast vertically on the central supports. These items are representative of British industrial and domestic metalware from the late 19th to early 20th century.
