Lot 218: Mid-Century Industrial Eight-Drawer Flat File Cabinet
A mid-20th-century industrial multi-drawer storage cabinet, designed for the flat storage of plans, drawings, or documents. The unit features a metal carcass and eight wide, shallow drawers, each finished in a utilitarian grey paint. Each drawer front is equipped with twin integrated horizontal pull handles. The internal construction of the drawers reveals wooden sides, a common feature in mid-century British industrial furniture. The top surface is finished with a textured laminate, likely Formica, featuring a cream-coloured linen-effect pattern. A modern battery-operated LED light strip has been adhered to the top surface. There are no visible manufacturer marks; however, the piece is characteristic of standard workshop or architectural office equipment from the mid-20th century.
