Lot 451: An Assortment of Decorative Ceramic Cabinet Plates, Souvenirs, and a Framed Lace Panel
An assortment of decorative cabinet plates, souvenirs, and a framed textile piece. The collection features several ceramic cabinet plates decorated in the Japanese Chokin style, characterised by central metallic relief medallions depicting peacocks, pagodas, and traditional carriages. These medallions are surrounded by black glazes and gilt-trimmed borders. Several of these plates bear yellow foil labels printed with the text 24KT Gold, 24KT GOLD, or 24K GOLD TRIM. Also included is a larger ceramic plate printed with a colourful pictorial map of Cyprus, bearing the text CYPRUS and THE ISLAND OF VENUS, alongside other souvenir plates, including one featuring a silver-plated rim with a black centre and white lace-effect transfer print spelling Bruges, and another small plate marked CORFU. Completing the group is an oval-framed souvenir lace panel featuring a white bobbin or needlelace depiction of a cathedral and floral motifs on a red fabric ground. The lace incorporates the letters G, E, N, T, representing the Belgian city of Ghent. This piece is housed in a moulded gilt-painted frame under glass.
