Lot 493: WWII British Mk II Steel Civil Defence Helmet Rescue Party Gas RP/G
A WWII British Mk II steel helmet, designated for Civil Defence use. The helmet features a standard Brodie-pattern shell with a rolled rim. The exterior is finished with hand-painted white lettering to the front reading RP/G, indicating use by a Rescue Party (Gas) unit, specialists trained to operate in chemical-agent-contaminated areas. A white painted band follows the circumference of the rim, a standard feature for Civil Defence personnel to improve visibility during the blackout. The interior contains a standard Mk II liner system secured by a single central bolt, and the helmet retains its original sprung webbing chinstrap. An adhesive lot sticker bearing the number 13 is present on the crown.
