Lot 541: A Pair of Soviet SOMZ BPC 7x50 Prismatic Binoculars and Original Carrying Case
A pair of Soviet-era prismatic binoculars, model BPC 7×50 (БПЦ 7×50), manufactured by the Salavat Optical-Mechanical Plant (SOMZ). The left prism plate features the SOMZ factory logo (a stylized mark within a circle), the Soviet State Quality Mark within a pentagon, and the English text MADE IN USSR, indicating this unit was produced for the export market. The model designation БПЦ stands for Binokl Prizmennyi s Tsentralnoy fokusirovkoy (Binocular Prismatic with Central focusing), with 7x magnification and 50mm objective lenses. The binoculars are constructed with a metal frame and finished with a black textured vulcanite or leatherette grip. Features include a central focusing wheel and an adjustable right eyepiece for dioptre correction. The binoculars are housed in a black leatherette hard case featuring a metal flip-latch and a brown leather shoulder strap. The interior of the case is lined with a dark felt-like material and bears a date stamp for 1977.
