Lot 542: Two Vintage Cast-Iron Miniature Block Planes Including a No. 101 Pattern Squirrel Tail Plane
This lot comprises two vintage miniature cast-iron block planes, designed for precision trimming and model making tasks. The first is a squirrel-tail style plane, distinguished by the digits 101 cast into the rear heel, a design synonymous with the Stanley No. 101 pattern. It is constructed with a cast-iron body featuring an integrated curved handle, a steel iron, and a lever cap held by a knurled tension screw. The second item is a small metal block plane of the No. 102 pattern, featuring a cast-iron body and a similar lever cap assembly. No definitive maker’s marks are visible on either tool beyond the model number on the 101 plane.
