Lot 629: A Group of Chinese Cast Cash Coins in a Wooden Presentation Box
A group of Chinese copper-alloy cast cash coins dating to the Qing Dynasty, housed within a rectangular wooden presentation box. The group includes coins from the reigns of the Qianlong Emperor (1735 to 1796), reading Qianlong Tongbao, and the Jiaqing Emperor (1796 to 1820), reading Jiaqing Tongbao. The coins are of characteristic round form with square central apertures, featuring Chinese characters on the obverses and Manchu script on the reverses designating the mints of issue. Also included is a small cast brass rosette-shaped charm. The coins and charm are presented in a rectangular wooden box featuring a bookmatched veneer lid, a brass clasp, and a red velvet-lined interior.
