Lot 770: William IV Mahogany Pedestal Sideboard
A William IV mahogany pedestal sideboard, circa 1835. The piece features well-figured flame mahogany veneers to the drawer fronts and pedestal doors. The top surface is designed with a bow-fronted central section and is surmounted by a high splashback gallery with scrolled ends and a central hand-carved stylised shell motif. The arrangement consists of three frieze drawers, with a long central drawer flanked by two shorter drawers. These are positioned above twin pedestals, each containing a single-door cupboard. The pedestals are embellished with vertical rope-twist cable carved mouldings and the sideboard is raised on six turned and tapering feet. Brass-lined keyholes are present to the drawers and doors, though no external handles or knobs remain. The drawers are of dovetail construction.
