Lot 908: An Edwardian Mahogany and Inlaid Sheet Music and Display Cabinet
An Edwardian mahogany sheet music and display cabinet, circa 1900. This single-piece cabinet is constructed from mahogany and features decorative marquetry and boxwood stringing. The front is divided into two distinct sections. The left section features a panelled door with a central marquetry inlay of a neoclassical urn within a boxwood-strung border, flanked by two inset rectangular mirror plates. This door opens to reveal an interior fitted with vertical dividers, typically used for organising sheet music or records. The right section consists of a single glazed door with a plain glass pane, opening to an interior fitted with two fixed horizontal shelves for display. The cabinet is finished with a small brass keyhole escutcheon to the glazed door and is raised on shaped bracket feet connected by a scrolling apron. No maker’s marks are visible. A contemporary auction lot tag is attached to one mirror plate which reads: RESERVE £… / EDWARDIAN CABINET / 2565.
