A professional collection of 20th-century and Victorian-era scientific and navigational instruments of British manufacture. The assortment includes a gimbal-mounted Royal Air Force pattern compass, housed in a mahogany case with rope handles. The compass bezel is engraved with the reference number 6A/473 and the serial number 18016 H. Also included is a cased brass drum-style compound microscope with objective lens and eyepiece. A comprehensive drafting set by Stanley is present, housed in a blue velvet-lined case gilt-stamped for Great Turnstile, London. This set contains a brass semi-circular protractor and a variety of nickel-silver and steel instruments including dividers and ruling pens. Additionally, the collection features two cased rolling parallel rulers by W.H. Harling Ltd of 117 Moorgate, London. One ruler is finished in black and bears the British military broad arrow Pheon mark and pattern number 160100, while the other is constructed of polished brass. The ruler cases also contain vintage pencils by Staedtler and Berol.
