Lot 541: A Large Persian Hand Engraved Copper Alloy Serving Tray
A large rectangular twin-handled serving tray of Persian origin, dating to the 20th century. The tray is constructed from a heavy-gauge copper-alloy plate with a raised straight rim featuring a punched beaded border. The interior surface is decorated with dense hand-engraved scrolling foliate and floral arabesque motifs, centred by a quatrefoil medallion within a circular border. The tray is fitted with two ornate cast metal openwork handles at the short ends. The piece is of hand-worked construction with a plain unworked reverse. Length 60cm, Width 18cm.
