Lot 570: An Assortment of Chinese Cash Coins in a Straw Marquetry Presentation Box
A group of items comprising a small rectangular wooden presentation box and several cast metal Chinese cash coins. The box features a lid decorated with geometric straw marquetry in a book-matched pattern, finished in a reddish-brown stain with a high-gloss lacquer. The box is fitted with a brass-toned side clasp and is internally lined with a dark red velvet-style fabric. The coins follow a traditional cast design with central square apertures. Several coins bear the inscription Qianlong Tongbao, indicating the reign of the Qianlong Emperor (1735-1796). One coin shows the reverse face with characters in Manchu script. The lot also includes a small, ornate floral-shaped metal component.
