Lot 578: Two Items Comprising a Henry Watson Pottery Wine Cooler and a Chinese Wooden Abacus
A lot consisting of an unglazed terracotta wine cooler and a wooden suanpan abacus. The cylindrical wine cooler features black transfer-printed text stating The Original Suffolk Wine Cooler, Ideal for Use at Home or on Safari, and Made by Henry Watson Pottery England Founded 1800. The thirteen-column abacus is housed in a dark-stained wooden frame with brass-toned metal corner reinforcements. It follows the traditional 2/5 bead configuration, with two beads on the upper deck and five on the lower deck of each rod. A paper label identifies the piece as Red Lion Brand, manufactured by the Dongfeng Abacus Factory in Wuzhou, China.
