Lot 603: A Large Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Figural Group of a Fisherman and a Woman
A large-scale porcelain figural group depicting a Chinese fisherman and a woman in traditional attire. The figures are modelled in dynamic poses, both wearing broad-brimmed conical hats and carrying yokes across their shoulders. From each yoke, two baskets are suspended by golden metallic cords. The fisherman is depicted with a long white beard and holds a pair of fish with blue-scaled bodies and gilded fins. Their robes are decorated with underglaze blue floral patterns and finished with overglaze gilded borders. The group is mounted on a single white-glazed base modelled as turbulent water or clouds. The facial features and skin are rendered in a soft polychrome palette. An auction lot sticker with the number 16549 is present on the base.
