Lot 702: A Mid-Century Chinese Rosewood Abacus Table Lamp
This vintage Chinese suanpan abacus has been adapted for use as a table lamp. The abacus features thirteen columns with a traditional two-five bead configuration, constructed from a dark hardwood frame consistent with rosewood. The frame is reinforced with decorative brass corner plates and a central brass-mounted divider bar. The beads are arranged on wooden or bamboo rods, with one rod appearing to be a structural metal reinforcement. The entire assembly is mounted vertically on a tiered and shaped wooden plinth base with a polished finish. A brown electrical cord with a black plastic UK three-pin plug is wound around the frame. The item bears an HCP Auctions South West paper tag for Lot 702 and a white adhesive label on the base inscribed VENDOR NUMBER 16640.
