Lot 754: A Pair of Paisley Pattern Upholstered Armchairs and Matching Footstool
This lounge suite comprises two armchairs and a matching rectangular footstool, all upholstered in a dense, multi-coloured jacquard or tapestry-style fabric featuring a traditional large-scale paisley pattern. The design utilizes a navy blue ground with intricate teardrop and floral motifs in shades of burgundy, terracotta, and ochre. Each armchair is designed with a high, two-tier split back providing separate lumbar and head support, alongside padded rolled arms and deep seat cushions, all finished with piped seams. The pieces are constructed with a dark-stained wooden base rail and are raised on short, blocky wooden feet. The form is characteristic of manual reclining armchairs common in late 20th-century domestic furniture. The matching footstool features a flat top and a coordinated base rail. No manufacturer labels or brand signatures are clearly legible.
