Lot 790: Pollock's Toy Theatre with Wooden Stage Frames and Jack and the Beanstalk Script
A Benjamin Pollock Ltd toy theatre set featuring a multi-colour lithographed paper proscenium mounted on cardboard and a series of black-painted wooden slotted stage frames designed to hold scenery and backdrops. The proscenium is decorated with a central portrait bust of William Shakespeare to the arch, a top frieze depicting theatrical and royal figures, and a base orchestra pit showing musicians with various instruments including violins, trumpets, and drums. The set includes printed script sheets for the play Jack and the Beanstalk, specifically detailing Scene III in the Giant’s Castle and Scene IV in the cornfields. The collection is housed within a repurposed red cardboard storage box bearing a label for The Original Pollock’s Toy Theatre, which is reinforced with Allied Pickfords moving tape and further contained in a white outer carton.
