Lot 849: A Pair Of Rattan and Cane Conservatory Armchairs
This conservatory furniture suite comprises two matching high-back armchairs. The frames are constructed from bent rattan and cane with a high-gloss varnished finish. The armrests are formed from quadruple-bundled cane poles, which are bound with rattan wrapping at key structural joints. The side panels and lower front sections feature a decorative diagonal lattice-work or criss-cross cane design. This style is characteristic of late 20th-century conservatory furniture popular in the United Kingdom. The suite is fitted with removable seat and back cushions upholstered in a heavy-weight tan fabric. The upholstery features a repeating geometric and abstract pattern, including diamond shapes, wavy lines, and small clusters of dots in shades of terracotta, dark brown, and charcoal.
