Lot 157: An Antique Forged Steel Blacksmiths Leg Vice
A traditional heavy-duty blacksmiths leg vice, also known as a post vice. This industrial-grade tool is constructed from forged steel with a long integral supporting leg designed to transfer heavy impact forces from hammer blows directly to the workshop floor. The vice features a fixed jaw, a moving jaw, a large-diameter screw mechanism, and a horizontal T-handle. A white adhesive auction lot sticker is present on the top surface reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 157. On the upper surface of the moving jaw, there are handwritten markings in black marker which appear to read B followed by an illegible character and the number 100. This design was common in metalworking and farrier shops throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries. No manufacturer marks are visible through the surface oxidation.
