Lot 177: Two Vintage Cans Comprising a Shell 2-Gallon Petrol Can and a Castrol Light Oil Can
A lot consisting of two vintage automotive fluid containers of British origin. The first is a rectangular two-gallon petrol can manufactured for Shell. The top face of the steel body is embossed with the words PETROL and the brand name SHELL. It features a fixed metal handle and a threaded brass neck. The second item is a steel lubricant container for Castrol Light Oil. The top surface is embossed with the inscriptions LIGHT, OIL, and CASTROL. This can is fitted with a knurled brass filler cap and a central metal handle. Both items are examples of mid-20th-century automobilia.
