Lot 273: Vintage Industrial Sheet Metal Travel Trunk with Red Interior
A mid-20th century industrial sheet-metal storage trunk or travel chest. The exterior is constructed from riveted steel and features a domed lid with pressed vertical reinforcing ribs and large domed rivets. The exterior surface exhibits a heavily weathered, naturally oxidised patina. The interior is finished in a contrasting vibrant red paint. It is fitted with metal rod drop handles at either side and a central locking latch. An oval maker’s label is present on the interior of the lid, though the text is largely illegible aside from the words MADE IN.
