Lot 854: A Pair of Jacobean Revival Carved Hardwood Side Chairs
A pair of Jacobean revival style side chairs constructed from a dark-stained hardwood. Each chair features a tall back with an elaborately pierced splat incorporating C-scrolls, foliate motifs, and a central fleur-de-lis element. The top rails terminate in scrolled ends. The fixed, overstuffed seats are upholstered in a floral tapestry-style fabric featuring a pattern of red and pink roses among olive green scrolling foliage on a cream ground. The chairs are supported on turned and block-form front legs with carved details, joined by stretchers, and square-section raked rear legs. No maker marks, labels, or stamps are visible.
