Lot 1035: A late 19th or early 20th-century Louis XV Revival carved hardwood medallion back fauteuil armchair
A Louis XV Revival armchair of French influence, constructed from a dark-stained hardwood frame. The piece features an oval medallion backrest with button-tufting containing ten buttons. The wooden frame is decorated with carved foliate and C-scroll motifs to the top rail and seat rail. It is designed with open padded armrests, known as manchettes, supported by curved uprights leading to cabriole legs. The upholstery is a pale gold velvet-style fabric finished with a matching braided gimp trim. Two adhesive labels are present on the frame, printed with Lot 1035 and 1036 respectively. No maker’s marks or stamps are visible on the exterior of the chair.
