A George II style bachelor’s chest, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century, constructed with highly figured burr walnut veneers and crossbanded borders. The rectangular fold-over top features a moulded edge and opens to reveal a flat interior surface. The front presents an unusual configuration of two small drawers to the left and a single cupboard door to the right, situated above two long graduated drawers. The drawer fronts and cupboard door are faced with burr walnut veneer and fitted with brass drop handles on shaped backplates with matching brass escutcheons. The chest is supported by a moulded base terminating in bracket feet. A small, illegible white rectangular label is present on the front left corner of the top surface.
