Lot 1064: A Mid-Century Modern Beech and Elm Spindle-Back Side Chair
This mid-century modern side chair is constructed with a bentwood hoop back enclosing five vertical spindles. The shaped solid wood seat is mounted on four splayed and tapered legs, which are braced by a spindle H-stretcher. The piece is crafted from light-toned hardwoods, with the seat displaying the distinctive grain of elm and the frame and legs appearing to be beech. The construction features wedged tenon joints where the legs meet the seat. Two temporary white identification labels are present, one on a back spindle bearing the number 13 and another on the seat bearing the number 1064. No permanent manufacturer marks or labels were observed.
